About Me..

Image of Me

Hi i'm Ashley Davidson, a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO!

I have a strengths-based approach to my work and believe that our minds and bodies have the power to promote healing through self-regulation and self-acceptance. I commonly discuss the power of mindfulness practice, unlocking shame and guilt, and pursuing the exploration of our internal family system of parts (IFS-informed). I am also a certified EMDR and Somatic practitioner.

I enjoy supporting individuals, couples, and family systems that struggle with substance use or behavioural addictions like gambling, technology overuse, overspending, binge-eating, and hypersexuality concerns.

I have worked in the field for 9 years, in a variety of settings! My experience covers crisis work, long-term counselling, and group therapy. I have also led public speaking and treatment programs within hospitals, schools, and the jail systems. For 5 years I had the privilege managing and working within several addiction-based programs before transitioning into private practice. Working in private practice provides me with an opportunity to support clients in ways which they need, and not be faced with systemic barriers (brief support to manage wait lists, avoiding the deeper places of trauma, lack of resources) which has always posed challenges for the work I aspire to do.

Outside of the office you can usually find me somewhere in nature or tending to my plant collection. I feel connected to the sun, moon, and earth, as they support me in recharging. I also have two adorable cats that came into my life at important times, so YES, I believe our universe offers direction and opportunity should we pay attention to it!! I love to travel, some of my favourite places are Victoria-B.C, Grampians National Park-Australia, Lagos in Portugal, Meatcove in Cape Breton, and PEI <3
